My story with the Internet goes way back. All the way back to 1996, when I first came across a newspaper article about how this Internet thing had, low and behold, 40 million computers connected to it worldwide. That was insane! (Today, that number is well into the billions)

Off to the library to get a book on HTML, and then I started building. The very first thing I created after swallowing the book, was a conceptual online ice cream store. Very simple, built only with input forms and <blink> tags! To be fair it never left the hard drive of my dads computer anyway, but it sparked an interest.

Throughout highschool I kept experimenting and building websites, and did the occasional website for local companies and sports clubs. During all this time I mostly considered it a hobby, and didn’t really think of it as a career path.

Fast forward after a couple of introductory computer science and programming classes at university I knew that I was destined to build things online, and after being a very persistent applicant I landed my first real job as a student developer in May 2005. Just two months after the initial release of Mozilla Firefox.
